Preheat the oven to 200 degree F and dust a baking sheet with flour.
Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl and then add the butter.
Pour the buttermilk and mix it in nicely with a large spoon to completely blend with the flour to form nice dough. Shape the dough into a flat round loaf of 8 inches diameter.
Put the loaf on a baking sheet and draw a deep cross on the top. This helps the bread cook through.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when it is tapped. If not ready, turn it upside down on the baking sheet and bake for a few more minutes.
Transfer this to a wire rack and cover it with a nice clean tea towel to keep the crust nice and soft.
Allow it to cool. While serving break into quarters and then break or cut each quarter into half to make into slices. Eat fresh.
