Eating healthy is attainable with recipes like this one. You don’t have to eat food that is rich in calories and ones that are harmful for your health in the long run. These foods may be tasty, but they have some very harmful effects on our health. With so many known harmful effects of eating unhealthy food, I have decided to stick to healthy diet from the start of this year. Other than regular exercise, eating healthy has become my sole motive for the year.
I love my food, but that doesn’t mean you have to harm your health to just enjoy a good meal. Tacos are my favorite and love eating and making them. They are easy to make and the following recipe is a healthier version of the famous Mexican tacos without compromising on taste.
The turkey taco lettuce wraps is one such recipe that is light, low in carbs and mind you, they taste delicious. Instead of going for the red meat, use organic ground turkey because it is lean and nutritious. It is a good source of protein too. Go for the organic free range turkey meat to make a healthy turkey taco lettuce wrap.
The flavors of this recipe are delicious. Moreover, the taco seasonings are made at home instead of the store seasoning that is high in preservative, salt and sugar. If you make your seasoning at home you can control the amount of salt and sugar that you consume.
There are many different versions of tacos; however, this one seemed healthy and easy to make. Eating this turkey taco never made me feel guilty of consuming the unwanted calories. Hope you try this one out for health sake.

Turkey Taco Lettuce Wrap
Ingredients
- 1 package organic ground turkey
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 2-3 tbsp bell pepper, chopped
- 2-3 tbsp onion, chopped
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- ¾ cup water
- 8 large lettuce leaves
- 1 small dollop of sour cream
- ½ shredded reduced fat cheddar cheese
- cherry tomatoes
- Olive oil spray
Instructions
- Lightly spray olive oil in a large skillet and cook the ground turkey until they are no longer pink in color. Break apart the meat as it cooks.
- Add the dry seasonings and mix well
- Stir in the onions, water, bell peppers and tomato sauce and cover it with a lid. Simmer it for 20 minutes on low heat.
- Wash and dry the lettuce while the turkey cooks.
- Add the turkey mix in-between the lettuce leaf and garnish with cherry tomatoes, sour cream and shredded cheese.
- Serve warm.
